John is the CEO of Digital First Media, the 2nd largest newspaper company in the US. He is also the Managing Partner of Digital First ventures. Throughout his career John has worked for both print and digital companies in the US, Canada and Europe.

John cofounded impreMedia, the largest news and information company for Hispanics in the U.S and in April 2009 was named Publisher of the Year by Editor & Publisher. He has been involved in more than $6 billion in media transactions.

He is a director of Digital First Media, the Guardian, El Pais, and PRISA, and is a member of the Board of Overseers of The Columbia Journalism Review. He’s also an Advisory Board member of San Francisco startup Tout and City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism.

John graduated from Ryerson University  who honored him with their Alumni of Distinction Award. He has also completed the Finance for Senior Executives at Harvard University Business School. He currently lives in New York City.
