Steve Dorsey joined the Austin American-Statesman in 2013 as the VP of Innovation and Planning. Prior to that he served as the Vice President, Research and Development for the Detroit Media Partnership and before that he worked in the Detroit Free Press newsroom in numerous roles. Steve was part of the editing team recognized with the 2009 Pulitzer for local reporting for coverage of the Detroit mayoral scandal. He was the newsroom leader at the Lexington Herald-Leader and before that he worked at the York Daily Record.

Steve was the 2011 President of the International Society for News Design. He speaks at numerous news and design conferences internationally and spends time educating future generations – he is a visiting professor at Syracuse University and recurring visiting faculty member at The Poynter Institute.

He’s a Syracuse grad, past president of, Tigers fan, and advocate for quality design. And sadly, @dorsey@jack.
